Entire nation celebrates Child Rights week from November 14 to November 20. Since Childline plays a very important role in providing emergency support to children in need of care and protection and ensuring their rights, all its units celebrate the week as Childline se Dosti (Friendship with Child helpline) Week to generates awareness among children as well as community members on child rights and the helpline.

Prayatn is working issues of child protection in Dhaulpur since long and as part of the same it running District Childline as well as Railway Childline units in Dhaulpur district. As such, the organization coordinated the celebration in different parts of the district in collaboration with District Administration.

The celebration began on National Children’s Day which is celebrated on November 14 marking birthday of our first Prime Minster Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru., the Chief Commercial Clerk Mr Mukesh Kumar Meena inaugurated CHILDLINE se Dosti week by waving off green flag to the rally organized from Railway Station Dhaulpur to Gandhi Park. Then a program was held in Children’s Home run by Dholpur district administration, with the purpose to pay tribute to late Prime Minister, to increase awareness on 1098, child rights, education of children, and rescuing helpless and destitute children. Various sports activities were organized to make the environment joyful and were followed by a skit on child labor enacted by the inmates of Children’s home.

On the 2nd day of the week, a program was organized in Girl’s Hostel located in Housing Board. the resident girls were informed about child rights and 1098 services. They were also made aware of two types of children who come to CHILDLINE namely, ‘Children in need of care and protection’ and ‘Children in conflict with law’. Competitions like rangoli, mehendi, essay, drawing, etc. were also conducted.

On the third day, a campaign was organized with the involvement of government and non-government employees and passengers at the Dhaulpur railway station. During the activity, the team gave information about 1098 and its services to the passengers through stickers, pamphlets and banners and about good-touch-bad-touch through animation video ‘Komal’.

On the fourth day, signature campaign was organized in the railway station premises which was inaugurated by R.P.F. Chief, Inspector Mr. Pyarelal. Additionally, self-defense training was being given to girls in Bhargav Vatika Ground, Dholpur.

On the fifth day, sports and entertainment programs were held for children at Dholpur Railway Station. Then in District Legal Services Authority premises, a program including officers of all the government departments was organized in which, Advocate Ms. Meenal Bhargava, gave legal information on sexual crimes against children and motivated to raise complaints of violation of child right on Childline number 1098 so that children can get protection.

On the sixth day, badge pinning program was organized for Railway Police, followed by children’s competitions in Mayuri Special School and Government Senior Secondary School, Bada Haidarshah, Dholpur.

The last day of Childline se Dosti week was celebrated in Gram Panchayat Purani Chawni, Dholpur, during which information was shared by Railway ChildLine Coordinator Mr. Sarnam about 1098, child rights and cleanliness with all the stakeholders. Gram Panchayat Sarpanch, Mr. Ravindra, appreciated the works of Railway Child Line, promised to promote education of children in his entire panchayat and gave assurance to work on the issues related to child protection like that of child labor, child marriage, etc.
