Prayatn has realized that integration of the change into the existing system is necessary to make it sustainable. Path of this integration is not of confrontation but of constructive engagement. The organization, therefore, engages with various government departments to influence their understanding, build their capacity and advocate rights. Such initiatives have been reciprocated by the government departments well in the form of appreciations, inclusion of Prayatn in various government committees as well as operational partnerships. We have also engaged with other institutions of public accountability like National Human Rights Commission, State Child Rights Commission, Women Rights Commissions etc.

In Rajasthan, we joined hands with Directorate of Prosecution and Harish Chandra Mathur – Rajasthan State Institute of in-service Public Administration and conducted sensitization training of all its Assistant Public Prosecutors on gender and crime against women. The training was inaugurated by then Minister of Home, Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria and received wide appreciation because it was first of its kind in the entire country.

Prayatn has been engaging with the Labour Department of Government of Rajasthan on the issue of Child Labour. Because of its efforts towards eradicating Child Labour, the department has included the organization in District level Task Force against Child Labour.

The department is running several social welfare schemes and Prayatn has made community based institutions aware of the same so that they are able to link needy and eligible beneficiaries with them. We have specifically engaged with the Directorate of Child Rights which is a crucial component of this department and so as to strengthen Juvenile Justice System to ensure Child Protection in the state. Because of this, the team members of Prayatn have been included by the department in inspection and monitoring committees of children homes in Dhaulpur, as well as Ajmer, districts of Rajasthan.

Prayatn has been engaging with Law and Order Machinery on the issue of Women Empowerment as well as Child Protection. As a result of this, we could initiate opening of Mahila Salaah Kendra (Women Counseling Center) and later Child Friendly Police Station within Sadar Thana of Dhaulpur. Inclusion of Prayatn in the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Rajasthan Police also marks recognition of our efforts in this regard.

Prayatn’s engagement with health department has been centered upon strengthening public health machinery and increasing its reach to the community. As such, we have tried to strengthen institutions like CHCs, PHCs and SHCs while extending support government initiatives like Poshan Abhiyaan, National Health Mission, RMNCH programme, RBSK, RKSK, National AIDS Control Programme, etc. In the COVID scenario, we have supported the departmental efforts through supply of PPE kit and sanitization kit to health workers and community members in general, spreading awareness on COVID appropriate behavior and encouraging them for vaccination.

Panchayati Raj System has been implemented by the Government of India to promote local self governance and several rural development schemes are being channelized through the same. At Prayatn, we realize importance of this process and, therefore, make efforts for sensitization and capacity building of members of these institutions. At the same time, we aware community members on the same and encourage them to be a part of the same. Linkage of the eligible beneficiaries with the different schemes being implemented by the department like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), MGNREGA, National Rural Livelihood Mission, etc. through awareness generation and capacity building of community based institutions is also a crucial part of the same.

Prayatn, while working for farm based livelihood development, has developed close coordination with institutions like Krishi Vigyan Kendras, to ensure that their expertise and facilities become available to farmers. We are also working closely with the department so as to improve farmers’ access to irrigation facilities, government certified seeds, crop insurance, use of neem coated urea, agri-product processing and digital marketing etc.

Government of India has launched flagship programmes like Jal Jeewan Mission and Swachchh Bharat Mission. As a part of organizational efforts on the issue of Water, Sanitation and Heath (WASH), the organization is ensuring that these programmes reach out to each and every eligible family.
