In an aim to accelerate the process to achieve the goal of the development of empowered Panchayats, Prayatn Sanstha organized a one-day workshop for the PRI (Panchayat Raj Institution) members of Cholapur Block of Varanasi district, Uttar Pradesh, under the Project ‘Sambal’ with the financial support of Kindernothilfe, Germany. The primary objective of the workshop was to acquaint PRI members with their roles and responsibilities in the implementation of schemes and welfare programs of the Government and to enhance the quality of working of the Panchayati Raj System at the community level.

Mr. Tribhuwan Narayan, Pramukh of Block of Cholapur, chaired the event and asked the participants to be more vigilant about the issues related to the development and protection of children and the community by fulfilling their roles and responsibilities of being representative of the society. He shared details of different government schemes related to child rights and protection.

Mr. Sonu Gaur, Project Officer of Prayatn, while hosting the workshop, introduced the organization and its efforts for the development of the community. He then shed light on the significance of the formation of the Panchayat Level Child Protection Committee (PLCPC) in addressing the developmental issues of children and the role of Panchayati Raj Institutions in this process.

At the end of the session Mr. Saurabh Singh, one of the Pradhans, stated that the information acquired from the workshop, enhanced his understanding; subsequently, shared his steadfast decision to form the PLCPC in his Panchayat.

The orientation was scheduled for June 29th, 2022, in the conference hall at the block office, Cholapur. During the orientation 45 members (06 female and 39 male), including 29 Pradhans, and 15 Ward Members from 30 villages took part. At the end of the workshop, they thanked the organization and assured that they will make all efforts to address the issues of the development of children and village. From Prayatn Sanstha Ms. Pooja Jaiswal, Sponsorship Coordinator, Mr. Sandeep Sonkar, Assistant Project Officer and Community Organizers helped in coordinating the whole programme.
