To mark the celebration of children’s week, Prayatn Team, under the project Bajaj Education and Child Protection run with the support of CRY and Bajaj Finserv at Khandela Block, Sikar, took the representatives of Bal Manch group of all 15 project villages on the 12th November to the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Mr Rakesh Kumar. He met them with great enthusiasm, welcomed them to his office and detailed his work to them. The Bal Manch representatives presented self-made paintings to Mr Rakesh and also submitted proposals about the problems of their respective villages and schools. Wishing them advanced happy Children’s Day and assuring them of resolution to the problems, SDM also motivated them to study hard and wished them a bright future ahead. Visit to SDM was followed by Awareness Campaign against Child Marriage and Child Labour in all 15 villages on the 15th of November. Campaign vehicle was flagged off by the SDM, Village Development Officer, Mr. Vikram Rathore, and Chief Block Education Officer, Mr. Sultan Ram Paliwal, and the team raised awareness among the village community by proclaiming child marriage and child labour as illegal and that they violate child rights. Children then rallied from school towards the village displaying banners and singing slogans against child marriage and child labour. The week has left the community sensitized about Child Rights and inspired them, especially children, to stand for their rights.
