On 10th and 11th of August, an orientation has been organised for Frontline Workers under the ‘Making Karauli an open defecation free district’ project which is being implemented by Prayatn Sanstha with the financial support of Plan India and NSE Foundation. In this orientation, Mr. Sagar Doda (Project Officer- WASH, Plan India) and Mr. Jiay-ur-Rehman (Project Officer – Education, Plan India), Mr. Uday Upadhyay (Project Manager – Prayatn Sanstha) and Mr. Saiyad Shahid (Project Coordinator – Prayatn Sanstha) oriented the Frontline Workers about the project and their role and responsibilities in achieving the objectives of the same.

It is important to note here that the project is covering all the 167 villages across 36 Gram Panchayats of the block and each Frontline Worker is responsible for covering 1 Gram Panchayat each. They are expected to generate community awareness on issues related with water, sanitation and health and strengthen institutions like Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committees (VHSNC), School Management Committees, Anganwadis and schools in this process.

Details of Government programmes like Swachchh Bharat Mission and Jal Jeewan Mission were also shared during the training and the FLWs were asked to enhance peoples access to benefits under these programmes.
