About 150 tribal farmers in Rayagada district of Odisha are making efforts for developing the seasonal vegetable clusters in their farm fields to get better yield and income from the process of vegetable cultivation. These farmers have been trained by Prayatn Sanstha under the Holistic Rural Development Project which is funded by HDFC Bank under its CSR venture ‘Parivartan’ and are being extended on-site support of agricultural expert for the purpose. The initiative, which was started about 3 years ago, is gradually gaining popularity as the farmers are getting good income out of it. Use of organic ways of farming has helped in improving the output qualitatively because of which more and more buyers are showing interest in collecting vegetables from the cluster. The demand has continued to remain even during the pandemic as people are becoming more cautious about their health and nutrition.
