Prayatn is implementing Water, Sanitation and Health project in all villages of Sapotara and Mandrail blocks of Karauli district of Rajasthan to generate community awareness on health and hygiene and ensure and make the Open Defecation free status of the blocks sustainable. The project is being implemented with financial and technical support of Plan India and National Stock Exchange Foundation (NSEF) and due coordination with local administration.

To implement the project a local Frontline Worker has been appointed in each of the 36 Panchayats in Sapotara and 24 panchayats in Mandrail block. To make these Frontline Workers aware of different aspects of WASH including personal hygiene, community hygiene, institutional hygiene, related government programmes like Swachchh Bharat Mission (SBM), Jal Jeewan Mssion (JJM), etc., and their own role in addressing the same, a 3-days long non-residential training was held at Meena Dharmashala from June 23 to 25. The training was held keeping COVID norms like social distancing, use of mask etc. in mind and 10 members of District Resource Group of Swachchh Bharat Mission were also trained in this process at the suggestion of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mr. Om Prakash Meena.

The training was facilitated by Mr. Sagar Doda, Project Officers – WASH and Mr. Jiya-ur-Rehman, Project Officer –Education, from Plan India; Mr. Uday Upadhyay, Project Lead, and Mr. Saiyad Shahid, Project Coordinator from Prayatn Sansthan, and Mr. Jagat Narayan and Mr. Baba Saheb Chauhan from Primove. Seven Assistant Project Coordinators of Prayatn acted as Co-facilitators in this process.
