On May 29, 2025, a special awareness program was organized by Prayatn Sanstha in Hariharpur Rani Gram Panchayat of Shravasti district, Uttar Pradesh to mark Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Day in collaboration with Health Department. The program was organized under the SBI Sanjeevani – Clinic on Wheels project which is supported by SBI Foundation
The objective of the programme was to break myths around menstruation and promote hygiene and health among adolescent girls and women.
Gram Pradhan, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Ojha, was the Chief Guest of the event. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized, “Menstruation should not be a topic of silence, but of open dialogue.” He further added that such awareness initiatives are essential to dispel myths around menstruation and to promote hygiene and health among adolescent girls and women.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, representative Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, explained the importance of the use of sanitary pads and provided the same to more than 80 girls present in the event from the department.
The event also witnessed the presence of Dr. R.K. Bharti (Medical Officer, PHC Hariharpur Rani), CHO Ms. Parul Verma, Lab Technician Ms.Divya Singh and other staff from the Health Department.
Thanking the guests, Mr. Santosh Kashyap, Program Coordinator, Prayatn Sanstha shared that SBI Sanjeewani project has been initiated in 20 villages each of Shravasti and Sonbhadra districts in Uttar Pradesh with the aim of improving health awareness and access to essential healthcare services in rural communities. Under this project a Mobile Medical Unit has developed in each of the districts which reach out to the villages and organize free OPD and awareness sessions for the community.
Activities like a mehndi competition, quiz sessions, and a health dialogue made the program engaging and impactful. ANMs, ASHA workers, students, and women from the village also participated with great enthusiasm.
