A one-day workshop was organized with the District and Block Level officials, DCPU, CWC and JJB in collaboration with the district child protection unit and Prayatn Sanstha with the financial support of Kindernothilfe, Germany on 30 January 2024 at Circuit House in Varanasi Uttar Pradesh.
This program was chaired by the Chief Development Officer, Mr. Himanshu Nagpal who emphasized the importance of formulating office-level action plans to address child protection issues and legal provisions related to children.
Mr. Sudhakar Sharan Pandey, District Probation Officer, outlined the workshop’s objectives, focusing on Mission Vatsalya and the Juvenile Justice Act 2015.
Insightful sessions included information on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006 by Ms. Sneha Upadhyay, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, and details on the Child Labor (Prohibition) Act 1986 by Mr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Labor Enforcement Officer.
Ms. Nirupama Singh, Child Protection Officer, discussed the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.
Mr. Sonu Gaur, Project Officer of Prayatn, on the occasion, welcomed the Chairperson and the participants and elaborated on efforts of the organization towards creating model villages and child-friendly environments. He was assisted by Mr. Sunder Singh (Assistant Project Officer), Mr. Dilip Kumar (Administrator), Mr. Dinesh, Mr. Vijay, Mr. Manoj, Ms. Pramila, and Ms. Radhika (Community Organizers) for the successful conduction of the workshop.
Attendees in the workshop included 81 officers from various departments/government bodiessuch as District Child Protection Unit, Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare Committee, Block Development Officers, Chief Medical Officers of Primary Health Centers/Community Health Centers, Block Education Officers, Assistant Development Officers, and District Social Welfare Officers from Varanasi.
