On 26th January 2026, on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, Prayatn Sanstha, in collaboration with the SBI Foundation under the SBI Gram Seva Project, organized a meaningful celebration at Baisingh village, Rayagada district, Odisha marking both the spirit of patriotism and the organisation’s commitment to inclusive rural development.

The National Flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest Shri Surendra Kumar Jal, Branch Manager, SBI Agricultural Development Branch (ADB), Rayagada, in the presence of local leaders and the Prayatn Sanstha team. In his address, Shri Jal highlighted the significance of the Indian Constitution as the foundation of India’s democracy and emphasized that true national development is achieved only when rural communities are empowered. He appreciated the SBI Gram Seva Project for its integrated approach in strengthening education, health, sanitation and livelihoods at the grassroots level and encouraged the community to actively participate in sustaining these initiatives.

Smt. Birima Majhi, Sarpanch, Baisingh Gram Panchayat, appreciated the joint efforts of Prayatn Sanstha and SBI Foundation and shared how the SBI Gram Seva Project has transformed the village through interventions in education, health services, sanitation, digital access, livelihood development and women’s empowerment.
The occasion was graced by other dignitaries including Smt. Maria Sirika (Sarpanch, Karubai GP), Shri Manika Tading (Samiti Sabhya), Smt. Sonamani Tading (Ward Member) and Smt. Bansmita Pradhan (Headmistress, Jurudi Upgraded High School), who were felicitated for their contribution to local development.

As part of the celebrations, the SBI OJAS Scholarships were awarded to 21 talented students from Baisingh, Karubai and Pipalaguda Gram Panchayats, recognising excellence in academics, sports and cultural activities. To promote girls’ education, 30 bicycles were distributed to high school girls to support regular school attendance.

Women’s empowerment was further strengthened through the Prerana Vocational Training Programme, under which 19 women trainees received certificates after completing a tailoring course, enabling them to move towards financial independence.

The programme also featured vibrant cultural performances by students and village youth, showcasing the rich heritage and unity of the community.
The event witnessed the participation of over 350 community members, including students, village leaders and residents, reflecting strong community ownership and collective enthusiasm.

With its blend of patriotism and people-centric initiatives, the Republic Day celebration in Baisingh stood as a strong reflection of Prayatn Sanstha and SBI Foundation’s shared vision of building empowered and self-reliant rural communities.
