On 3rd December 2025, Prayatn Sanstha observed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at SBI Gram Seva Kendra, Baisingh, Rayagada, Odisha under the SBI Gram Seva project supported by SBI Foundation. The event aimed to promote inclusion, dignity and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in the community.

During the event, Sarpanch Ms. Binima Majhi and the village Nayak Mr. Manika Mandangi expressed their appreciation, stating we have never seen this type of program in our area before. It is a wonderful initiative for persons with disabilities. Programs like this help increase their self-confidence and interest, and they play an important role in ensuring social justice and promoting economic growth among them. We sincerely thank Prayatn Sanstha and SBI Foundation for organizing this event and taking the lead for their empowerment.

Mr. Kanhu Charan, Project Manager, shared detailed insights on the importance of observing Disability Day within the community, emphasizing how such awareness encourages inclusion and respect for persons with disabilities. He also informed participants about key government schemes including disability pension, reserved travel facilities, marriage assistance, financial support, skill development programs and special education institutions available for persons with disabilities. He further highlighted the objectives of the SBI Gram Seva Project and explained how SBI Foundation and Prayatn Sanstha are collaboratively working to strengthen social awareness, improve access to developmental opportunities and enable sustainable growth across the community.

During the event, three persons with disabilities received mobility aid tricycles, enhancing their mobility and independence. The program concluded with the facilitation of these mobility aids by Sarpanch Ms. Binima Majhi, marking a meaningful step toward promoting accessibility, dignity and greater social inclusion for the beneficiaries.

A total of 53 participants attended the program, including parents of the beneficiaries, the Sarpanch of Baisingh (Ms. Binima Majhi), the Nayak (Village Mukhiya) Mr. Manika Mandangi, Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, Anganwadi Workers (AWW), Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA), village leaders and the Gram Seva Committee President and Secretary, reflecting strong community involvement.
