On 14th November, 2025, Prayatn Sanstha, with the support of the SBI Foundation under the SBI Sanjeevani – Clinic on Wheels initiative, conducted World Diabetes Day awareness programs in Sonbhadra and Shravasti districts of Uttar Pradesh. The activities focused on educating rural families about diabetes prevention, early identification and the importance of healthy lifestyle routines.

In Sonbhadra, the session took place in Banki village of Nagwa block, where the Medical Officer, Dr. Yash Sharma, explained the symptoms, causes and long-term risks associated with diabetes. The session encouraged community members to reduce the intake of refined flour, sugar, potatoes and salt and to shift toward a balanced and nutritious diet. Participants were also advised on the need for regular monitoring of blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol levels, along with taking appropriate medication when required. A total of 114 people attended the session and as part of the activity sugar tests were conducted for 20 beneficiaries. The community was also informed that through the SBI Sanjeevani Clinic on Wheels, Prayatn Sanstha is providing mobile OPD services across 20 villages of Nagwa block to ensure essential healthcare reaches remote households.

In Shravasti, the awareness event was held at Chailahi village under Gram Panchayat Sirsia block, where an informative session and health screenings were conducted to strengthen community understanding of diabetes and related health risks. A total of 85 individuals participated, and the team carried out 25 Random Blood Sugar tests and 20 Hemoglobin screenings for pregnant women, identifying 10 beneficiaries with high RBS levels and 8 women with anemia. The session emphasized building healthy habits through regular physical activity, nutritious diets and timely health check-ups. The active involvement of ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and the Community Health Officer added to the effectiveness of the program and ensured smooth facilitation.

Through these efforts, rural families gained essential guidance on diabetes management and preventive habits.
