In a bid to empower women and strengthen rural communities, Prayatn Sanstha joined hands with Karl Kübel Stiftung, Germany under the Moving Ahead initiative to equip Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the 4 block of Dholpur, Rajasthan. On December 5, 2023, a one-day training session titled “SHG Group and Budget Management” empowered 98 members from 8 SHGs across Dholpur and Rajakheda block with the knowledge to navigate financial success. The orientations will continue in other blocks in the following days.

Under the guidance of Ms. Rajni Jain, Project Officer at Prayatn, and Assistant Project Officers Mr. Fazru Khan and Ms. Reena Tyagi, the orientation session delved into pivotal aspects of Self-Help Group (SHG) sustainability. The emphasis was on meticulous adherence to group regulations, ensuring punctual meetings, and fostering active member participation, all contributing to the establishment of a strong foundation.

The session, led by Ms. Rajni Jain, explored practical strategies for income generation within the group. Peer lending and accessing small loans from government and non-government organizations were highlighted as avenues for entrepreneurial ventures and employment creation. She emphasized financial literacy, guiding members on analyzing savings from income-generating activities and promoting investments in education, health and agriculture for long-term growth. Record-keeping gained prominence, stressing the importance of transparent financial management. SHG members actively participated, committing to refine group rules, appoint a leader, and identify income generation opportunities.

Community Organizers of Prayatn are providing invaluable support throughout the session, ensuring a smooth and impactful learning experience.
