Prayatn Sanstha organised a one-day workshop for the Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) members of Shahabad Block of Baran district, Rajasthan under the Project Combating Malnutrition through Livelihood Development (CMLD) with the support of Bread for the World, Germany. The primary objective of the workshop was to acquaint PRI members with their roles and responsibilities in managing the malnutrition issues among the Sahariya tribal population in Shahabad so that they play the same effectively.

Mr. Mahesh Chandra Sharma, Assistant Block Development Officer of Shahabad, chaired the event and asked the participants to be more vigilant to the issues related to the development of the community and regularly monitor public institutions to ensure benefits are timely provided for the needy. He shared details of different government schemes related with livelijhood development of tribal communities.

Mr. Shiv Narayan Tiwari, Project Officer, Prayatn Sanstha, while hosting the workshop, introduced the organization and its efforts for the upliftment of the tribal people. He then shed light on the significance of livelihood development in addressing the issue of malnutrition among Sahariya tribe children and role of Panchayati Raj Institutions in this process. Mr. Manojit Behra, Livelihood Expert of Prayatn, shared efforts being made by Prayatn for farm as well as non-farm93 based livelihood development in the area.

The orientation was scheduled for May 19th, 2022, at Prayatn campus in Shahabad. During the orientation 27 members, Panchayat Samiti Members, Panchayat Presidents, (Sarpanch), Deputy Presidents (Up-Sarpanch) and Ward Members from 30 villages took part. At the end of the workshop, they thanked the organization and assured they will make all efforts to develop livelihood of the Sahariya people and address incidence of malnutrition among Sahariya children through the same.
