A 3-day residential workshop on Theater in Education (TIE) had been organized for Bal Manch groups of Shahabad block in Prayatn Campus at Bara District, Rajasthan, under the Project ‘Bajaj Health & Nutrition’ in association with CRY and Bajaj Finserv. Dating from 6th-8th October 2021, Mr. Walter Peter, Theatre in Education Expert and founder of Laa Po Laa TIE India, acted as the resource person. A total of 32 children participated in the workshop which was aimed to increase awareness through the medium of theatre among Bal Manch children about health, nutrition and education. The themes covered included the importance of healthy diet and personal hygiene, Child Helpline no. 1098, violence against women and children, eradication of social hesitation of children, inner personality development, physical, mental and emotional changes during adolescence and perils of social evils like child marriage, dowry, use of tobacco, child labour, liquor, etc. During the workshop, children were so fascinated and involved in the activities that they found it hard to depart in the end. However, being confident of their reunion, they boldly expressed that they wish to have such workshops even in the future and greatly appreciated Mr. Walter for his child-friendly behaviors and his great skills to take children through a world blended with entertainment and education.
