With the auspices of CRY and Bajaj Finserv, Prayatn has organized an Awareness Campaign on Maternal &Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) and COVID Vaccination from 6th till 12th of September in 50 villages of Shahabad Block of Baran District, Rajasthan, under Bajaj Health and Nutrition project. Dr Arif Hussain, Block Chief Medical Health Officer, and Mr Suresh, Representative of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, inaugurated it by waving green flag to the campaign van. In his inaugural statement, Dr. Arif Hussain told that government is celebrating nutrition month during September to generate community awareness on nutrition and theme for 2021 is – ‘feeding smart right from the start’. The initiative of the organization was a very crucial support in this regard.
Mr. Midhun Kurian, Project Officer, Prayatn Sanstha, on the occasion, told that Prayatn is working in the region with specific focus on ensuring maternal and child health and nutrition of Sahariya tribe and has developed community based institutions to take this process forward; various awareness activities were undertaken in the campaign with the active participation of members of these institutions which include Bal Manch members, Child Protection Committee and Adolescent Girls’ Group. Other stakeholders like Anganwadi workers, Mawadi workers, Sarpanchs and Ward Panchs were also taken together in this process. In addition, awareness on COVID preventive measures and the urgent need of COVID vaccination will be focused during the campaign.
