On the occasion of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Prayatn Sanstha organized a lung cancer awareness session at Manchi village in Nagwa Block, Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh on 29th November 2025. The initiative, conducted under the SBI Sanjeevani Clinic On Wheels in collaboration with SBI Foundation.

During the session, Medical Officer Dr. Narendra Singh explained the common symptoms of lung cancer, such as persistent cough, coughing up blood, chest pain, changes in voice, fatigue and weakness. He also highlighted the key risk factors, including excessive consumption of tobacco and alcohol, unhealthy lifestyle, poor diet and obesity and family history of cancer. The awareness session saw active participation from 111 villagers, including 53 men and 58 women.

Dr. Singh further advised preventive measures, recommending that participants avoid cigarettes tobacco, bidis, gutkha and as well as excessive alcohol. He encouraged adopting a healthy daily routine with fresh fruits and a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical exercise, receiving HPV and Hepatitis B vaccinations and avoiding unnecessary X-rays. Following these measures can help reduce the risk of lung cancer.

Village Head Mr. Bhuneshwar appreciated the efforts of Prayatn Sanstha and SBI Foundation, noting that the mobile ambulance service provides villagers with free medicines, medical consultations and guidance on disease prevention, which is highly commendable.

The session was successfully conducted with the support of the MMU team, who played a vital role in making the awareness activity effective and impactful.
