Team Prayatn celebrated 75th Independence Day on August 15 2022 with children of migrant workers residing in the slums of Jagatpura in Jaipur, Rajasthan. This day cannot be commemorated without acknowledging the issues and vowing to be more rigorous in protecting underprivileged children. Since the basic requirements like quality education, regular and nutritious meals, proper healthcare facilities, and a safe shelter are away from them. Realizing the need Prayatn is running a project for the migrant children in 10 settlements each in Jaipur, Gwalior and Surat with the financial support of LIC HFL (Life Insurance Cooperation Housing Finance limited)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebrations began with a flag hoisting ceremony, followed by the playing of the National Anthem. Chairing the occassion, Mr. Yogesh Jain, Programme Director of Prayatn Sanstha explained importance of education to children in simple terms by stating that problems like poverty do not let us realise the true independence unless were are educated. .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Rishab from RHA (Robin Hood Army), and Mr. B. S Meena from HHF (Humanity Heart Foundation) participated in the program. They also distributed school bags to the children as a token of love and affection for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Suman Pareek, Project Officer of Prayatn Sanstha, anchored the whole event recited a patriotic song and observed a Two-minute silence to remember the Freedom Fighters. Mrs. Samajh Kanwar, Assistant Project Officer of Prayatn Sanstha threw light on the supreme sacrifices and urged the congregation to pay homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to the event, an Awareness rally has been organized with the support of the SMs (Shiksha Mitras), where flashboards were projected and slogans were echoed in the streets of Jagatpura on Independence. Successively, various colorful cultural programs like singing, dancing, and indoor and outdoor games and sports competitions were also conducted. Children and the community participated in the activities with great joy and enthusiasm. Prizes were given to the children who regularly attended Remedial classes, maintained hygiene, prepared good paintings on the occassion, observed appreciable discipline and obedience, etc. Consolation prizes were distributed for all the participants. Finally, children were served toffees, sweets, and fruits to double their joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
