Children in Shahabad relished an unprecedented weeklong celebration during Child Rights Week 2021. In an effort to spread awareness on issues faced by children, Prayatn team in Shahabad organised a slew of theme-based programmes like Child Rights\u2019 Contest, Post Card Campaign, Child Rights\u2019 Rally, Talent Fest, Sports Meet, etc. under the Bajaj Health and Nutrition project which is being implemented with the support of CRY and Bajaj Finserv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration commenced on 14th November with a Postcard campaign in which 100 children of Bal Manch and Kishori group i.e., 10 from each cluster, made postcards presenting their village issues in it. On the next day, Prayatn set up an interactive platform where selected child representatives from each project village directly communicated with district police authorities and discussed their doubts regarding their Rights. They submitted the postcards to DYSP, Mr Kajodmal in his office at Shahabad, Baran, who has promised that the issues children raised would be forwarded to the higher officials and he also ensured them all support from the government for the resolution of the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, Child Rights\u2019 Contest was held in the government school of village Purampur. Students participated in various fun games, poster making and Rangoli competitions based on child rights themes like child marriage, child labour, malnutrition, female foeticide, girl child education, etc. Community and PRI members distributed prizes for the winners and motivated children to be sensitive to social issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then a \u2018Talent Fest\u2019 was organised in village Kasbathana for which children decorated the Community Hall and displayed their abilities through solo and group songs, cultural and cinematic dances, speeches, Child Rights-based skits, storytelling, poem recitation, etc. Sarpanch, school teachers, mawadi workers and Anganwadi workers also actively participated in the programmes along with the community members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Child Rights\u2019 Rally was also organised in all the project clusters in which children enthusiastically participated and were motivated to stand firm for their rights. Community members including PRI members, Anganwadi workers, mawadi workers and school teachers too actively participated in the rally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last but not the least, the week culminated on the 20th of November with an energetic \u2018Sports Meet\u2019 for which games like musical chair, frog race, lemon and spoon race, 100-metre race, skipping rope race and a local game named \u2018neer-teer\u2019 were organised for the children of 05 project villages.
